MAX Harris is a Multidisciplinary Fine Artist specializing in Jewelry & Sculpted Gemstones.
Fascinated by the intersection of Natural Science and Art,
Max is passionately obsessed with Gemstones and Fine Minerals. His artistic vision is expressed throughout the entire journey from rough gemstone material to wearable pieces of jewelry crafted in precious metals. Creating Artworks made to pass through time, he is lauded for the artistic and conceptual qualities of his jewel sculptures in a fully three-dimensional format, as well as cameo and reverse-intaglio style carvings.
He has most recently begun the lifetime pursuit of gemstone faceting in traditional and contemporary cutting patterns, resulting in completely customized creations as well as collaboration with other Jewelers.
Max's artistic style at large is greatly inspired by organic patterns and time-transformed textures, which he describes as "The Language of Nature". The aesthetic and processes harnessed to create these Artworks is inseparable from his spiritual practice and way of seeing, often described as Zen. Mimicry of natural landscapes, geological formations, and the ephemeral expression of erosion is the essence and poetry of his work. Max strives to emulate "The Language of Nature" so convincingly that the line between his hand and Creation becomes indistinguishably blurred. His Art is equally ancient and forward reaching, moving towards a distant and sometimes alien future.
Embedded in a worldwide network of Gemstone and Fine Mineral dealers, Max imports and exports jewels in their rough form. He has the ability to source nearly any gem material on the planet, and is always working diligently to seek out additional ethical sources of rough and crystal specimens.
Featured recently as an artist at the esteemed MANA Contemporary cultural arts center, Max now creates in a private studio-laboratory in New York City.
